Age Relaxation

• PwBD Candidates: 10 years of relaxation in the maximum age limit.
• In-Service Regular Bihar Government Employees: Candidates who have completed at least 3 years of continuous service are eligible for a 5-year relaxation for appointment to a higher pay scale.
• Contractual Veterinary Doctors: Veterinary doctors who have worked on a contractual basis under the Bihar Government or any non-private institution such as the Central Government, undertaking, corporation, board, autonomous body, or projects under the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department may receive age relaxation equivalent to the period of contractual service. This relaxation is subject to a maximum of 8 years above the prescribed maximum age, calculated as on 01 August 2026.
• Candidates Eligible Under Previous Recruitment: Candidates who were within the prescribed age limit as on 01 August 2021 for the previous Touring Veterinary Officer/equivalent recruitment under the 23 January 2006 provision, or who crossed the maximum age limit between that date and 01 August 2026, will remain eligible for this recruitment, provided they meet all other eligibility conditions.
• Ex-Servicemen: 3 years plus the length of military service rendered, subject to the condition that the candidate’s actual age on the date of application does not exceed 57 years.
• One Relaxation Rule: A candidate can avail of only one of the above age-relaxation provisions, whichever is more beneficial.

Exam Pattern (Written Test)

• The written examination will consist of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.
• The total duration of the examination will be 2 hours.
• The written examination will carry 100 marks, which will subsequently be scaled to 75 marks for the final merit calculation.
• The syllabus will be based on the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree-level curriculum as prescribed by the requisitioning department. The detailed syllabus will be published separately on the official BTSC website.
• The examination may be conducted in one or more shifts. In case of multiple shifts, marks will be normalized as per the Commission’s prescribed procedure.
• Negative Marking: Candidates will receive +1 mark for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Merit Score Calculation

• The written examination score out of 100 will be converted to a maximum of 75 marks by multiplying the percentage score by 0.75.
• For example, a candidate scoring 60% in the written examination will receive 45 marks after scaling (60 × 0.75).
• Eligible work experience will carry a maximum of 25 marks and will be added to the scaled written examination score.
• The final merit score will therefore be calculated out of 100 marks: 75 marks for the written examination + 25 marks for work experience.
• Work experience benefits will be available only to candidates who qualify the written examination and have eligible contractual experience as a Veterinary Doctor with the Bihar Government or an eligible non-private institution, including Central Government organizations, undertakings, corporations, boards, autonomous bodies, and projects under the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department.

Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by BTSC in the written examination to qualify for further merit calculation and receive the applicable work-experience benefit.
